F.A.Q.

Which companies are worth boycotting?

Whichever ones, after you do research on your own, you feel are exploitative in nature. Personally, I boycott VIZ, Tokyopop, and CMX; I do not mind spending money on Go!Comi, IceKunion, or Netcomics.

What is your goal?

To establish a voice for a futuristic counterculture movement that appreciates the arts and avoids using currency for art.

Where can I hear you speak?

Mainly at Southern California conventions. Eventually the speeches will make their way onto youtube and they'll be viewable there.

How can I officially be a part of “Animation Liberation”?

There are many ways on can contribute to this movement. One way is to obtain some art-books and/or DVDs and donate them to a Library or other public institution (thus negating it's price and leaving them available to the public). Another way is burn the first 20 volumes of a popular Manga series onto a CD, include a piece of paper informing the reading that there are websites that offer free manga and anime online without having to pay for it and then go to your local bookstore and slide the CDs and information into the 1st volumes of that popular manga (thus hopefully introducing a potential consumer of art into a potential pirate of art!)

Do I have to affiliate with or use the term "Animation Liberation" when doing such actions?

No. Not at all. Remain anonymous if you like or start your on movement if you like.

Who are you?

The webmaster is Austin Wright. He coined the tern “Animation Liberation” to describe the futuristic movement where, primarily through Internet or grassroots activities, art is praised and currency is avoided. For more information, feel free to check his Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/adrenailine
